Research and Thesis

1.The training plan of postgraduate students is based on tutor system. Tutor and postgraduates make up a study group, whose leader is the tutor. The tutor is responsible for the training and evaluating of students.

2.Accomplish literature reading and topic selection report and gain 1 credit.

The number of literature reading before writing topic selection report is not less than 30, including the following content)

(1)Fountain and purpose of the subject

(2)Overseas summary and development trend of the subject

(3)Research contents and methods of the subject

(4)Expected outcome

(5)Main references

3.Postgraduate students are required to take an active part in academic conference at least 6 times during 3 years. The college of materials will invite well-known scholars and professors (including home and broad) to give lectures. Besides, it will organize professors of its own to give academic reports regularly. After participating in academic conference at least 6 times and completing reading notes, postgraduates can gain 1 credit.    

4.The midterm report of thesis begins in the beginning of the third semester. Postgraduates will report the process of thesis and bring up the plan of next stage. The written report will be submitted and examined. For those who are not qualified, the college of materials will screen out them according to the rules of school.

5.Postgraduates have to publish at least one paper in a formal journal as the first author before thesis defense.

6.The committee of thesis defense is made up of at least 3 associate professors or people with higher titles. The committee must evaluate the ability of postgraduates and the thesis fairly.
