From October 28 to November 25, about 60 undergraduates from the School of Materials Science and Engineering attended the five courses of HUST-UoB Lecture Series for Joint Education in Material Science and those who successfully completed the courses were awarded the certificate.
Experts from the School of Metallurgy and Materials of the University of Birmingham gave lectures on topics related to materials science such as “Displaying the Beauty of Growing Crystals in 4D” by Dr. Biao Cai, “Materials Characterisation in Electron Microscopes” by Dr. Yu-Lung Chiu, “3D Printing Opportunities and Applications” by Prof. Moataz Attallah, “In-situ Micromechanics to Design Automotive Metal Processing Methods” by Dr. David Collins and the final lecture was delivered by Mark Pell, head of the international admissions program of the UoB and Prof. Hanshan Dong from the School of Metallurgy and Materials of the UoB, introducing the“2+2”joint education program between HUST and the UoB in materials science.
Through these five courses, students were able to learn about various cutting-edge research on materials in an all-English teaching mode and know more about the University of Birmingham as well as its materials discipline. At the end of the course, the School of Materials Science and Technology of HUST presentedthe students with certificates of completion.
Our School and School of Metallurgy and Materials of UoB have signed the“2+2”articulation program. The HUST-UoB Lecture Series for Joint Education in Material Science is an extension of the existing cooperation and we look forward to more extensive and in-depth cooperation between the two schools in the future.
