On May 20, 2021, a meeting was held online for the “2+2” joint education program between Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the University of Birmingham in materials science. Prof. Shan Bin invited Prof. Hanshan Dong and Dr. Stephen Kukureka from the School of Metallurgy and Materials of the University of Birmingham and Mark Pell, head of the international admissions program of the University of Birmingham, to make a presentation on the “2+2” program to our students and teachers. The meeting was hosted by Kim Ye, Project Manager of the University of Birmingham China Office.

Mark Pell gave a comprehensive introduction to the 2+2 joint education program and led the students to have a glimpse of the studying and living in Birmingham; Professor Hanshan Dong focused on the education pattern and disciplinary advantages of the School of Metallurgy and Materials of the University of Birmingham; Professor Stephen Kukureka gave a supplementary explanation on the employment situation of students. At the end of the meeting, the participating students exchanged views with the teachers from Birmingham on the application requirements, program fees and other issues of concern.

In recent years, to enhance the international reputation and explore new admission channels, HUST has taken the initiative to develop overseas cooperative education programs and made continuous innovation on international students’ admission. The "2+2" Joint Education Program with the University of Birmingham provides new insights for MSE to cultivate compound talents  with international vision, innovative spirit and practical ability.
