On December 7th, 2015, the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) announced its list of newly selected academicians for 2015, and Prof. Li Dequn from the School of Materials Science and Engineering was in the list as an academician of Mechanical and Vehicle Engineering Department. To date, our School has two professors honored as academicians of CAE.
Prof. Li Dequn has long been engaged in the teaching and research of plastic injection molding simulation and molds CAD/CAE/CAM, undertaken many national key scientific and technological projects and projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and made systematical study in computer-based plastic injection process simulation technology, all this having significant engineering application effects. He is the pioneer in China to make study in simulation of plastic injection molding, create the surface model based on plastic injection molding simulation and deepen the study in plastic injection molding simulation from macroscopic flow field into mesoscopic structure, realizing quantitative forecast of performance of plastic products. Furthermore, he expanded and deepened his study fields, and applied his theoretical achievements in plastic molding process to the intellectualization of injection molding machine. In recent years, Professor Li has been committed to research and development of plastic injection molding process integration system and intelligent injection molding machine based on knowledge and combination of microcosmic scale and macroscopic scale. He has made a significant contribution to development of mechanical molding engineering and automation disciplines of China.
Prof. Li has won first prize of Provincial (Ministerial) Scientific and Technological Progress Award and Excellent Teaching Results for many times, second prize of National Scientific and Technological Process Award in 2002 and 2007, second prize of National Natural Science Award in 2010, and been awarded as National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Workers in 2010. So far, he has published 300-plus papers, authored 8 monographs, and compiled 13 textbooks.
