The center for semiconductor materials and devices strives to supply all-round, professional and multi-level intellectual and technical support for the development and application of semiconductor science and technology. It has obtained the third prize of the National Science and Technology Progress and the fourth prize of National Invention. It has undertaken the national key basic research and development program of China (973), the national high-tech research and development program of China (863), the national natural science foundation of China and enterprise cooperative R&D projects and so on. It collaborates with the top universities, research institutes and industrial partners throughout the word, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Jülich Research Center (Germany), Max Planck Institute for Solids Research (Germany), Simon Fischer University (Canada), Northwestern University (USA), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Huawei, Flextronics and so on.

The center has established a multidisciplinary and multi-level teaching and research team for semiconductor materials and devices, which is currently made up of 16 full-time staffs, including 9 professors and 7 associate professors, and 5 postdocs.

   Main research directions:

1) Nanosensing materials and devices: gas sensitive materials, photo sensitive materials, nitrogen/oxygen sensors and chips, sensor array and system micro-machining technology, photocatalytic materials;

2) Advanced ceramics and devices: piezoelectric ceramics and devices, dielectric materials and devices, 3c-ceramics, bio-ceramics, additive manufacturing technology for ceramic devices;

3) AI materials and technologies: artificial olfactory inference system, artificial neural network, memristive devices, Brain-like chip, self-healing materials;

4) Energy conversion and storage materials: thermoelectric materials, solar cells, lithium/sodium ion battery, solid-state ion battery and supercapacitor;

5) Thermal management materials: thermal interface materials, thermal storage materials, phase change thermal management materials; electromagnetic shielding and absorbing materials.
